Linney was born to a single, unmarried mother who worked as a nursing assistant. She became interested in theatre during the holidays with her famous father. She was a student of acting through Brown University, and later at Juilliard School. Beginning her career at the Broadway soon after graduation, she debuted in film within two years. She also appeared on TV in the year after. Since then, she has been in numerous films as well as stage and TV productions. In her professional career, she has won many awards, including her two Golden Globe Awards. Although she has received numerous accolades, she is still a lover of acting and has performed on both screen and stage.
